Hello to you all. If you are in the market for a robotic vacuum cleaner, then join us on this Shark ION Robot 750 Review. In it, we are going to take a closer look at what makes this choice of vacuum a good buy, or not.

So let us introduce you to the ION App controlled robotic vacuum cleaner. This is a model currently available from one of the leading household appliance manufacturers, SharkNinja.

SharkNinja is a company that has been around since 1995. This is a company that leads the way when it comes to cleaning, house care, and kitchen appliances manufacturer. Based out of Boston U.S.A., SharkNinja has some of the top models currently available. One of which is this vacuum cleaner.

Nowadays, these appliances are hardly recognizable from the upright vacuum cleaners that were the norm for so long. So, what does the Shark ION Robot 750 offer to you, the consumer? Well, stick with us to find out…

Design

Robotic vacuum cleaners are now a very popular alternative to the standard stand up vacuums that had the run of the show for such a long time. New innovative designers have bought vacuuming into the 21st century with robotic cleaners. Also, battery technology has also come along way from a decade or so ago. And now, more and more home appliances are being offered using batteries rather than running from mains electric.

The Shark 750 is a low slung, circular robot that is 12.6 inches in diameter. It has a nice low profile of 2.6 inches. This makes it almost half an inch lower than many of its competitors that average around 3 inches. That means it will easily travel and clean under furniture.

Take control…

The main component to the 750 is the eleven-inch brushroll on the underside. And there are two rotating brushes which are placed, one on each side. On top, for controlling the functions, you will find three buttons – one for docking to charge, another for cleaning, and the final one for spot cleaning.

Basically, this style of robotic cleaner has the design of a rather large frisbee! But don’t try throwing it!!!

Set Up

Set up is really easy. However, there is no portable remote control supplied with this model. Instead, there is an App you must download to your Smartphone or tablet and then connect the bot to the App via WiFi.

The App will allow you to monitor battery power, instruct it to start a cleaning cycle – either standard or spot clean – and return it to the battery charging dock. It can be controlled by touch screen or by voice activation, which is quite fun.

You are also able to program a cleaning schedule by selecting different times and days when you wish it to do a run around your home. If you can not remember when it last did a vacuum, there is a memory function to check when and how many cleaning cycles have been completed.

Dustbin And Brushes

The dustbin fitted to the 750 is a bit on the small side we feel with a 380 ml capacity. Therefore, if you have particularly dirty floors to clean or larger surface areas, then emptying the bin during a cycle, will normally be necessary. However, it is quick and easy to do. Simply push a button on the side of the device, and the bin will slide out for you to then go and empty it in the trash.

There is one brushroll under the body and two side brushes that slightly extend over the device. These will work in turn to pull out larger debris, household dirt and dust on low pile carpeting, hard floors, also into the edges and corners of your rooms. SharkNinja state that the brushes are self cleaning. There is no filter as such, so all debris is designed to get sucked straight into the dustbin.

However, we would recommend that you take a look at the brushes fairly often, as although dirt may get sucked through, any brushes will struggle with and get tangled in hair after not too long. That goes for you, especially if you have a pet pooch or puss about the place.

The brushes clean quite delicately, in our opinion. And there is no aggressive cleaning function with this model.

Navigation

The 750 features smart sensor navigation to let the robot travel freely around your rooms. On the underside, there are three wheels, one front wheel for steering and two at the rear for the drive. This is a very maneuverable robot that can turn really tightly to navigate out of corners and around furniture.

It is designed to adjust power to the surface it is on. For example, a smooth, hard floor will cause less exertion to the battery than if it is running on a carpet. This helps to get as much power out of the cleaner for its cleaning duty. The infra-red sensors inform the robot as to when it crosses onto different surface layers to change the power output accordingly.

The 750 can sense furniture and walls to help it find its way. We also find this to be a good navigator of random objects that may be left lying around, such as shoes or piles of ironing. This is because there is no mapping and memory feature to the device. But, because there is no mapping feature to the 750, the cleaning pattern will be totally random. Therefore, it will not remember or clean the same route twice.

Performance

The cleaning time you will get from the 750 is around one hour. Although this will vary, depending on the surfaces it has been running on. When the battery is running low, it will dock itself back to charge.

The charging time is about 2 hours. And once a charge has been completed, unless you have informed the robot otherwise from your App device, it will return to work duties, cleaning around again.

All these fantastic features make the ION Robot 750 one of the best Shark vacuums currently on the market.

Shark ION Robot 750 Review Conclusion

Well, there you have it then. You should now have much more of an idea about the capabilities and functions offered by the Shark ION 750 robot vacuum cleaner.

This is great value for money and does a good clean up job on the whole. Yes, it lacks some of the fancy functions of other more expensive models. But, it does what it says on the box. That is, it is a robotic vacuum cleaner that will run around your home unattended and do a job that none of us really want to do ourselves.

We would just advise you to keep an eye on the cleaning brushes. Check to see they are kept free of tangled hair. Make sure, too, that the dustbin is empty before you start a cleaning cycle. Apart from that, it will basically run itself.

So, there you go, we like the Shark ION 750, and think it’s an excellent first robotic cleaner if you just want to see if you enjoy having one. If you do, you can always upgrade to an all-singing, all-dancing model in a few year’s time.

Thanks for sticking with us, and Happy Cleaning to you all!
