Hello, welcome to our review today on one of the most popular suction side pool cleaners available right now, from a leading manufacturer, Zodiac. It’s biggest competition is it’s bigger brother, another cleaner from the same company, the Zodiac MX8 suction side pool cleaner which we covered in a previous review.
The American manufacturer that leads the way globally, with innovative new and improved designs for pool cleaners and spa products is Zodiac Inc. They strive to deliver the perfect pool environment, enhancing comfort, peace of mind, and the enjoyment for pool owners.
A company with over 30 years of experience in this field, they are continuously re-developing and designing new pool cleaning machines. Not only to keep your pool as clean and hygienic as possible but, with the lowest energy costs and the least amount of effort from you, as top priorities.
This is a company who aims to give the private pool owner that satisfactory feeling of knowing that, by purchasing one of Zodiacs many varieties of pool cleaner, their own pool will always be clean and inviting.
So, let us move on and introduce you to the machine at the center of our attention today – the Zodiac MX6.
Here we have, a nice compact yet, very powerful and ultra-efficient suction side pool cleaner. This machine features best in its class for vacuum power and navigational systems. So reducing your pool cleaning duties to a minimum, while still achieving a beautifully fresh and clean pool. This is a powerful, quiet, and compact pool cleaner.
Let us now take a look at some of its best features…
You have a single, very powerful turbine fitted to the MX6. This will kick up all dirt, algae, and debris from the bottom and sides of your pool to then be sucked up into the cleaner.
A cyclonic suction design cleans the pool surfaces with great vacuum performance, leaving them shiny and smooth to the touch.
The MX6 comes with a flow regulator valve that is in place to guarantee optimal performance without using and wasting lots of energy. In actual fact, the MX6 consumes less energy than any other model in its class. This means you can operate it using a variable speed pump, or pumps that can operate with as little as 25 gallons per minute of suction.
This makes it an ideal model for pool owners of smaller in-ground pools. In such cases, the pumps generally used do not typically operate at such high levels of suction.
It can, quite often, be quite a struggle to get a cleaner rigged up and operating in the first place. You need to make sure you know how to work the functions, hook it up, and get it moving. Set up practices with certain suction side pool cleaners can be aggravating and tiresome, especially the hooking up of hoses. With an MX6 the hoses are easy twist connectors, making setup a breeze.
Once you are connected, Zodiac have fitted specially designed heads allowing them to swivel instead of being held in place, reducing wear and tear on your hoses. Also, the connecting teeth will not get stripped.
There is a regulator in place that will control the water flow, so, once submerged and on, there is nothing else necessary to adjust at the skimmer.
No Effort Needed…
The MX6 is a machine that has the juice to do the job with the minimum of assembly and effort on your behalf. It will navigate to all the corners, over and around steps and pool ladders, while putting in a lot of muscle behind its cleaning.
One thing to point out, however, it is fitted with only a one-directional gear. Therefore, it cannot turn itself around. So, there is the possibility of it getting caught up in a corner. If this does happen, which, unfortunately, from time to time, it will. Then you will need to manually help it back onto its right course again.
Secondly, you are only supplied with thirty feet of connecting hose. For owners of larger in-ground pools, this will probably not be of sufficient length to wholly reach around your pool. Extra hose though, can be purchased at your own expense if desired.
Zodiac claims that any extra length fitted will not affect the vacuum abilities. That is a statement only you will be able to decide if you choose to do so.
Well, in general terms, you will have pleasing results if you are to purchase an MX6 suction side pool cleaner. It will perform competently and give sufficient results to your water pool cleanliness.
Setting up is a pretty simple and straight-forward thing to do. With few internal moving parts, maintenance is kept to a minimum, and energy usage is low.
The MX6 is a hard-cleaning, wall climbing, compact unit. It has definitely been designed with smaller pools in mind. This is certainly no bad thing because not everyone has an Olympic size swimming pool in their backyard! Just bear this in mind though, if you want to try it out in a larger pool. We are not saying it cannot do as such but, for starters, you would be in need of extra lengths of hose.
Less power needed…
It is able to operate at a reduced power of suction. The fitted features have been made to keep maintenance and cleaning down to a minimum. And the way in which it connects to the suction will prolong the life of the hoses used to power it.
When in operation, you will, however, need someone on hand, just to keep an eye on its progress. Some larger, more expensive pool cleaners can be left totally to their own devices to get on with the job. Not such the case with an MX6.
Though fully adequate in its cleaning duties un-aided, there is the risk of it getting caught in a corner. It has no reverse gear, so if this happens, it will just halt and is then waiting for you or someone to just give it a shove back in the right direction.
Well, there you are then for this review. We hope to have given you a good insight into The Zodiac MX6 suction side pool cleaner and whether this might be the machine for you and your pool?
